Young in Data Center Norway is up and running

On 2 September we held our kickoff at Bulk Infrastructure's HQ at Skøyen. [134] people came through the door, from operators, contractors, advisers, law firms, grid companies and engineering consultancies.

Thank you to our speakers: Jon Gravråk (CEO, Bulk Infrastructure), Reynir Johannesson (CEO, Norwegian Datacenter Industry), Halvard Kilde (CEO, Metier) and Jon Kristian Sjåtil (Schjødt).

YiDC is an English-speaking, independent, non-profit network for people under 40 working in and around the Norwegian data centre industry. Showing the full width of the sector matters to us: construction, developers, electricians, plumbers, operators, engineers, hydraulics, lawyers, advisers, financiers. Seeing all of those professions in one room is exactly what we set out to do.

There is a well-connected senior layer in this industry, largely with roots in telecoms and property. The people under 40 doing the work beneath that layer mostly do not know each other across company lines. Our sector is growing faster than nearly anything else, and the people who will be running it in twenty years should know each other already now.

Thank you to our founding sponsors: Bulk Infrastructure, Schjødt, Metier and Norwegian Datacenter Industry.
